A good answer for the Texas basketball program to find this offseason if they don’t land Greg Brown is hit the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Two of the hottest ongoing storylines in the world of college basketball is going to be NBA Draft declarations and the NCAA Transfer Portal. Both trace back to the same thing, which is player movement. And the Texas basketball program is going to sit in the thick of a number of storylines in the coming weeks and months, including where a few of the bigger names in the transfer portal land.

Apparently, one of the players that Texas is going after in the transfer portal early in the offseason is Oregon Ducks center and former four-star recruit Francis Okoro. If Texas were to add Okoro, they would get a nice bolstering to the frontcourt rotation. While this isn’t necessarily the biggest area of need, it would be nice to get better at the five.

First reports of the interest that Okoro got from various schools since putting his name into the transfer portal came from Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, on his Twitter timeline. But Texas is one of just a number of major conference programs going after him at the moment.

Other programs that are also going after Okoro are the Texas A&M Aggies, Illinois Fighting Illini, Purdue Boilermakers, Mizzou Tigers, Northwestern Wildcats, Oklahoma Sooners, and Houston Cougars. Texas is surely going to have their work cut out for them if they really want to try hard and pursue Okoro.

Head coach Shaka Smart can use any help he can get if he wants to ensure that he puts the best team out on the floor possible next season.

Here’s a look into the three reasons why the Texas Longhorns basketball program should go full boar after Oregon Ducks rising junior center Francis Okoro in the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason.
