An updated list of potential targets that Texas football should have in the NCAA Transfer Portal has even more talent on it amid a desolate news cycle.

While the status of the upcoming college football season in its entirety is still up in the air, as it stands now, the Texas football program sits in good position if there are games played this fall. Texas was projected to be one of the two or three teams in serious competition for the Big 12 Championship this year. The other two would have to be considered the Oklahoma schools.

Head coach Tom Herman still has to stay on top of his roster construction and recruiting while sports are effectively on pause since about mid-March thanks to the novel coronavirus pandemic. With that in mind, there were already rumblings that Texas would be turning to the NCAA Transfer Portal for help specifically at linebacker.

But there’s more than just the linebacker position where depth could be shallow, or at least too unproven, on the Forty Acres this coming season. Texas could specifically focus on the wide receiver, linebacker, and offensive guard positions to add depth this offseason through the transfer portal.

The most significant addition to the transfer portal since I last talked on the big board for Texas at each position is the former USC Trojans redshirt sophomore quarterback and former five-star recruit JT Daniels.

Since the transfer portal is one of the lone news sources in the college football landscape at the moment (again thanks to COVID-19), that will continue to be a focus for Texas.

Here’s a look into the three updated NCAA Transfer Portal targets for the Texas Longhorns football program to pursue among those new entrants in the last month or two.
