Texas Football: 3 reasons to be excited for transfer WR Tarik Black
The latest addition to the receiving corps for the Texas football program comes in the form of former Michigan transfer wide receiver Tarik Black.
A solid week of additions to the receiving corps for the Texas football program started out on April 26 (to cap the weekend) with the announcement of the commitment from three-star Atascocita tight end Landen King. Texas was able to follow that up with a commitment out of the NCAA Transfer Portal from former Michigan Wolverines grad transfer wide receiver Tarik Black.
Black will be coming over as an immediately eligible rising senior grad transfer that brings plenty of talent from Ann Arbor. He is a former four-star recruit that ranked as the nation’s No. 116 2017 high school prospect, No. 15 wide receiver, and top overall prospect out of Connecticut. The 6-foot-4 and 210 pound Black just never really found his way under head coach Jim Harbaugh with the Wolverines program.
As the first addition out of the transfer portal so far this offseason, Black is going to contribute at a position of need. Texas had to be looking for help at offensive guard, wide receiver, and linebacker above all else. The weird part with that is that Texas was deeper on the defensive side of the ball than on offense.
In 17 games played with Michigan, Black registered 40 catches for 507 yards and two touchdowns. Injuries were a big problem for him in Ann Arbor, especially during his first two years on campus.
Here’s a look into the three definitive reasons why the Texas Longhorns football program and its fan base should be excited about getting former Michigan grad transfer rising senior wide receiver Tarik Black through the portal on April 28.
