A rather unlikely addition at this point to the 2021 Texas football recruiting class is 5-Star SDE Korey Foreman, who is now trending to USC.

Some of the biggest news to strike the college football recruiting landscape in the last month or two was the decommitment of the nation’s top 2021 high school prospect from the Clemson Tigers. Head coach Dabo Swinney and his Clemson program saw Centennial five-star strong-side defensive end Korey Foreman decommit from their 2021 recruiting class back on April 21. The Corona, CA, native Foreman also received an offer from the Texas football program a while back.

The Texas Longhorns football program is one of more than two-dozen schools to send a scholarship offer to Foreman. Other significant schools on his offer sheet outside of Clemson and Texas are the LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma Sooners, Oregon Ducks, Tennessee Volunteers, and Texas A&M Aggies.

In the post-decommitment pursuit of Foreman, it does seem like there’s some clear front runners emerging. The latest 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions are now giving the edge to head coach Clay Helton and the USC Trojans to nab the commitment of Foreman over the rest of the competition.

Of the 12 expert Crystal Ball Predictions in as of the afternoon of April 30, half of them are going to USC. There are still five that favor Clemson, and one going with the defending National Champion LSU.

The Rivals FutureCast is also starting to give more favor to the in-state blue blood USC over the rest of the field. After more than 60 percent of the Rivals analysts and publishers were picking Clemson over USC back in late winter and early spring, now that same number are favoring the latter of the two schools.

Up to this point, more than 60 percent of Rivals analysts and publishers are picking Foreman to commit to USC over Clemson. Texas isn’t even close to figuring into the mix right now, but it is still important to follow the national trends on the recruiting trail like where Foreman will take his talents next.

It appears that there is a clear hierarchy emerging in the pursuit of Foreman. At the moment, USC is the leader, with Clemson still in the running in second. LSU would be the third program in line, and they could still make a run given all their momentum on the recruiting trail of late.

The 6-foot-4 and 265 pound California native Foreman ranks as the nation’s top 2021 prospect (with that obviously the top in his state and at his position). He also slots as the No. 12 high school prospect in the history of 247Sports Composite rankings.

Texas and Oklahoma were two of the more recent offers that Foreman received (back on Jan. 18). But neither appears to be legitimately in the running to land his pledge. Where he commits to could drastically change the landscape for this recruiting cycle in the end, though.
