A potentially massive addition to the 2020 Texas football recruiting class could be on its way with 4-Star CB Jahdae Barron.

At a position of need for the 2020 Texas football recruiting class, there could be a big win that they get in the near future. A former Baylor Bears commit and four-star Pflugerville Connally cornerback and Austin, TX, native Jahdae Barron could he set to announce where he’ll be taking his talents at the next level in the very near future.

National Signing Day arrived more than two months ago to lock in the 2020 recruiting class for the Texas Longhorns football program. Head coach Tom Herman was able to lock in a third straight top 10 ranked recruiting class in the nation for the 2020 cycle. That looked to give the Longhorns plenty of momentum heading into the thick of the 2021 recruiting cycle.

But the Longhorns could trace back and get a crucial transfer add to the incoming freshman class with Barron announcing on April 30. He posted on his Instagram page on his story earlier this week that there would be a “big announcement” coming on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT.

Barron had originally signed his National Letter of Intent back in December 2019, during the Early Signing Period. But he received a release from his letter of intent last week to re-open his recruitment. Since he re-opened his recruitment, he received offers from the Virginia Tech Hokies, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Washington State Cougars.

Other significant offers that Barron holds includes the Oklahoma State Cowboys, TCU Horned Frogs, SMU Mustangs, Houston Cougars, Tennessee Volunteers, and Texas Tech Red Raiders. The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions do currently favor Texas over Baylor to land the commitment of Barron in the end.

The 247Sports Composite ranking for Barron slots him as the nation’s No. 358 2020 high school prospect, No. 24 cornerback, and No. 51 prospect out of Texas. But the 247Sports recruiting ranking has him as a top 10 cornerback in the nation and a top 130 high school prospect overall.

Barron would technically be the second cornerback commit in the 2020 Longhorns recruiting class. That would be huge, as he would join the other cornerback commit and four-star John Tyler product Kitan Crawford.
