Texas Football: Ranking 5 best QB’s coached by Tom Herman
Although former Ohio State skill position star and quarterback Braxton Miller was not recruited while Herman was the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in Columbus, he still belongs on this list. The total career production of Miller as a quarterback was very impressive, and he technically won a National Championship in 2014.
If Meyer’s Buckeyes were eligible to compete for a BCS National Championship during the 2012 season, then Miller might have wound up with two national titles. The Buckeyes did finish with a top three ranking in the final AP Poll and with an undefeated record during the 2012 regular season, but NCAA sanctions kept them from maintaining postseason eligibility.
Miller also had a very topsy turvy career with Ohio State. He was the Ohio State starting quarterback from 2011-2013. After an injury would sideline him early in the 2014 campaign, he would then be moved to wide receiver for his final year with the program.
In the roughly three years for Miller as the starting quarterback, he registered 5,292 passing yards, 52 passing touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. He added a whopping more than 3,600 total yards from scrimmage (including his one year playing wide receiver) and 36 touchdowns. Miller accounted for a ton of offense and points in college.
Miller would also post a passer efficiency rating of 146.7 and 7.9 adjusted passing yards per attempt at Ohio State.
