A big decision is up in the air for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class on May 2 with the impending decision of 4-Star WDE Jordon Thomas.

The second key decision for either the 2020 or 2021 Texas football recruiting class in just a matter of days is coming on May 2. Head coach Tom Herman will figure out if key four-star Memorial 6-foot-3 and 240 pound weak-side defensive end Jordon Thomas would choose Texas or the rival Texas A&M Aggies.

Even though Texas A&M and the Texas Longhorns football program haven’t met on the gridiron in going on one decade now, they do continue to duke it out on the recruiting trail. But Texas and Texas A&M will be battling it out to land the Port Arthur, TX, native Thomas.

Texas figured out that it would be competing with Texas A&M to land the commitment of Thomas back on April 8. He announced his top two finalist schools on his Twitter timeline on that day.

Now, Thomas is making moves to join one of these two 2021 recruiting classes on May 2. Thomas announced that he will be making his next move for where he will take his talents on the collegiate level on Saturday afternoon.

Up to this point, Thomas received offers from less than 10 schools. He made it clear pretty early on where his interests lied. The six schools he cut included the defending National Champion LSU Tigers, Baylor Bears, Houston Cougars, Southern Miss Golden Eagles, TCU Horned Frogs, and SMU Mustangs.

Thomas also had a number of visits with both Texas and Texas A&M within the last calendar year. He ranks as the nation’s No. 235 2021 high school prospect, No. 15 weak-side defensive end, and No. 36 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).

By now, the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions are picking Texas to land the commitment of Thomas over the Aggies. The Rivals FutureCast also has a 100 percent analyst and publisher prediction favoring Texas over Texas A&M.

Hopefully this is a sign that the Longhorns are permanently trending in the right direction with Thomas ahead of his weekend announcement date. Texas did pretty well at this position in the 2020 recruiting class, and more of the same for 2021 would be huge.
