The classic helmets that the Texas football program uses each passing fall was ranked among Rivals Top 10 in the country earlier this month.

The traditional uniforms in college football tend to be some of the best that you’ll see. There are a few programs that pull off the modern idea of changing uniforms up with something flashy and new every week, but that’s not best for the Texas football program. Texas definitely has the tradition factor to their uniforms that makes them a classic around the college football landscape.

Fans of the Texas Longhorns football program are likely not the only ones that would agree that the men in burnt orange where some classic uniforms.

On May 1, Rivals recruiting director Mike Farrell released his opinion of the top 10 college football helmets in the country. This is obviously a list that could be up for debate, but a common theme amid the top 10 was the tradition factor of most of the programs.

Farrell ranked the Longhorns as the eighth best helmet in the country, but they were the only program from the Big 12 to make the list. Even former Big 12 foes like the rival Texas A&M Aggies, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Colorado Buffaloes, and Mizzou Tigers, weren’t apparent in the top 10.

Behind the Longhorns on this list were the USC Trojans and Georgia Bulldogs (in order). And the seven above them to round out the list (in order) included the Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oregon Ducks, Florida State Seminoles, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, and Arizona State Sun Devils.

Last year ahead of the 2019 college football season, FanSided released a list of the top 50 best uniforms in the entire country. Texas made it on that list too, at No. 4. The jury should be out at this point that the Longhorns have some of the best uniforms (including helmets) in the nation.

Texas is supposed to first take the field in those classic white and burnt orange helmets on Sep. 5 at home against the South Florida Bulls. But we’ll just have to wait and see what transpires with the 2020 season amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
