The only name on this list that had received an offer coming out of high school from the Longhorns is the former Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver and four-star recruit CeeDee Lamb. In the 2020 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys used their first round pick to snag the 6-foot-2 and 200 pound Big 12 superstar Lamb.

Coming out of Foster High School in Richmond, TX, Lamb held offers from 20 schools. And it seemed like the final two schools that he was down to when he announced his commitment decision were the Longhorns and Sooners. The final set of 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions had two experts picking Oklahoma and one going with Texas.

Lamb ranked as the nation’s No. 148 2017 high school prospect, No. 24 wide receiver, and No. 22 prospect out of Texas. He was part of a recruiting cycle that had a number of talented wide receivers, including Clemson’s Tee Higgins, Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy, Devonta Smith, and Henry Ruggs, and TCU’s Jalen Reagor. Ironically enough, another wide receiver ranked among the top 20 in the nation at the position for the 2017 cycle was former Michigan rising senior Tarik Black.

Over the course of his three years playing in Norman, the Sooners saw Lamb register 182 total touches for 3,312 yards and 33 touchdowns. He averaged a whopping 19 yards per catch in his career at Oklahoma. And his senior campaign alone saw him amass more than 1,300 receiving yards and 14 total touchdowns.
