Texas produces some of the top high school talent in all of the nation. Here are the top schools that sent talent to Texas football over the past decade.

In college football, recruiting top-notch players and developing that talent is the name of the game if you want to get to the pinnacle of the sport. And the Texas football program had mixed results in that department in recent years.

The state of Texas has been and continues to be one of the major producers of high level high school talent in the country. In the 2020 recruiting cycle the state of Texas produced 12 prospects in the 247Sports top 100 and 44 in the top 300. Not only does Texas produce high end talent, they have the most depth of talent in the nation.

Because Texas produces such quality talent, it has always been a staple for the flagship university of the state to secure the top players from Texas. Dating back to before recruiting rankings made the mark they do today, the University of Texas has always made it a priority to bring in the top players from their home state.

The notion has always been that if you lock down the state of Texas, you will have a very successful program. Mack Brown did that very successfully which is what vaulted him into Texas football coaching allure.

Tom Herman has said over and over again that his main recruiting goal is to get back to keeping the best high school talent in the state at the next level. Herman has done a decent job of that, though there is still work to be done.

In this piece I took a look at the ten Texas football recruiting classes from 2010-2019 noting which high school every in-state signee graduated from and how successful they were in their collegiate careers.

Over these ten cycles Texas had 177 in-state players enroll at the university from 127 different high schools across the state. During this time 27 high schools sent two enrollees to Texas, eight sent three players, and two sent five.

Here are the top five Texas high schools that have sent talent to the Texas Longhorns football program based off of quality and quantity of players.
