An early prospect to watch in the 2022 Texas football recruiting class should be 4-Star Klein Cain running back Jaydon Blue.

There is a lot of buzz generating lately regarding a very talented target of the 2022 Texas football recruiting class, four-star Klein Cain running back Jaydon Blue. Texas is one of 20 schools that have now offered Blue, who is one of the most highly touted prospects at his position for the 2022 recruiting cycle.

The Texas Longhorns football program was just the second to send Blue a scholarship offer, which came way back on Sep. 7, 2019. The first program to offer Blue was the Arizona State Sun Devils, back in July 2019. Getting in early on Blue should do nothing but help the Longhorns case over the long haul.

And it appears that the Longhorns are trending in the right direction in the early race to land the commitment of Blue. He’s keeping active on social media with edits of him in a Longhorns and LSU Tigers uniform. LSU and Texas are getting the most activity on the Twitter timeline of Blue of late, especially this weekend.

However, LSU is newer to the party than Texas. LSU offered Blue pretty recently, coming on May 12. At least head coach Tom Herman has the edge over the Tigers in the way of early buy in with Blue.

Other notable schools that have offered Blue thus far includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma Sooners, Auburn Tigers, USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, and Texas A&M Aggies. There’s not a clear finalist list of schools for Blue as of yet, as the big time offers keep pouring in.

But the two programs that appear to be making the most headway are Texas and LSU. His 247Sports recruiting profile does list Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, and USC as “warm” in the pursuit of Blue’s commitment.

And the early signs are there that the Longhorns could hold the edge as his front runner at the moment. Three expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions all pick Blue to commit to Texas over the rest of the field.

The Rivals FutureCast has a tie between one publisher going each way between Texas and LSU.

Given how early it is in Blue’s recruitment, the 5-foot-9 and 192 pound Houston, TX, native could see other programs creep into the conversation among his top schools. He’s surely worth the attention on the recruiting trail this offseason.

Blue ranks as the nation’s No. 80 2022 high school prospect, No. 7 running back, and No. 11 prospect out of Texas (247Sports rankings). He doesn’t have a specific ranking on Rivals yet, but he is a four-star prospect overall.

During his sophomore season at Klein Cain High School, Blue registered more than 1,700 total yards from scrimmage and 16 rushing touchdowns. He got more than 200 rushing attempts last season, and should see an even bigger role during his junior campaign.

It looks like Blue could be a potential early candidate to be the Longhorns first commit in their 2022 recruiting class. Texas is heating up on the recruiting trail in the last month or so for their 2021 class, so 2022 could be soon to follow.
