There’s still a handful of underrated high school prospects out there for the 2020 Texas basketball recruiting class to add alongside Greg Brown.

What wound up saving the 2020 Texas basketball recruiting class for a head coach already on a hot seat during the current offseason was Shaka Smart landing five-star hometown power forward Greg Brown. As a potentially elite talent hailing out of Vandegrift High School in Austin, TX, Brown could be a driving force to finally get Smart and Texas back to the NCAA Tournament.

In a season where it looked as if Texas could return to the NCAA Tournament with a red-hot end to the 2019-20 Big 12 slate, the novel coronavirus pandemic spoiled the party for all. The COVID-19 pandemic cancelled out most of the Big 12 Tournament and the NCAA Tournament too before any of it was really able to happen.

This turned the attention firmly to the offseason and whether Texas would be able to land Brown’s commitment heading into the summer months. The good news for Texas was that they would get at least one signee in the 2020 recruiting class when Brown committed back on April 24.

Even though Texas did get a top 10 ranked 2020 high school prospect in the nation in Brown, they still only hold the No. 95 ranked 2020 recruiting class in the nation (per 247Sports Team Composite Rankings). Texas also sits in the ninth spot in the Big 12 class rankings for 2020.

While competing Big 12 programs like the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Kansas Jayhawks, and Baylor Bears are solidifying deep recruiting classes for the 2020 cycle, Texas is still falling behind.

Here’s a look into three potential remaining recruiting targets for the Texas Longhorns basketball program to go after to pair with Brown.
