As a player that could almost remind you of an early 2010’s version of Reggie Hemphill-Mapps in terms of his career saga on the Forty Acres is wide receiver Kendall Sanders. Clearly a product of the recruiting efforts of Brown’s coaching staff specifically, Sanders would be gone from the program the year after his coach was.

The former highly touted four-star cornerback recruit out of Athens High School in Athens, TX, brought about a lot of excitement to the Longhorns 2012 signing class. He ranked just outside the top 100 2012 high school prospects in the nation, and inside the top 10 cornerbacks (247Sports Composite).

Sanders was a part of a shining 2012 recruiting class that ranked among the two best in the nation. That class also included five-star running back Johnathan Gray and five-star current New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Malcom Brown.

Although, this was a fairly thin signing class at the wide receiver position, so it made sense that Brown would move him from cornerback to the receiving corps.

During his first year playing on the Forty Acres, Sanders registered just two catches for 15 yards and no touchdowns. He did have somewhat of a breakthrough during his sophomore season, when he caught 37 passes for 361 yards and one touchdown.

Before his final year playing in college, Sanders transferred to join up with the Arkansas State Red Wolves. He registered 38 catches for 553 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged a very high nearly 15.0 yards per catch during his senior campaign at Arkansas State.
