There’s a few three-star under-the-radar prospects that are also targets of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class that the staff should keep on.

It is go time for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class given that the 2020 offseason could continue to have prospect visits to campus dramatically delayed. In the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic, in-person recruiting contact was severely limited since the start of spring. Early March was really the last time various recruiting prospects could visit the campuses of programs that are interested.

Head coach Tom Herman is trying his best to keep his 2021 Texas recruiting class afloat in the national class rankings given mixed results on the trail since the outset of the 2020 offseason. According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 15 in the nation and remains in the top spot in the Big 12.

But the Baylor Bears and Oklahoma Sooners are continuing to close in on Texas of late in the Big 12 recruiting rankings.

Moreover, after landing a commitment from unranked ProKick Australia punter Isaac Pearson on May 29, Texas is now up to 11 prospects in their 2021 class. The highest ranked commitment in the 2021 class is five-star Denton-Ryan athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders. He is currently the lone five-star prospect committed to Texas’ 2021 class.

There is still a wide variety of needs for Herman and his Texas squad in the 2021 recruiting class. Texas has some big positional needs to address at linebacker, tight end, and cornerback, among other spots. They have yet to land any commits at the following position groups (excluding special teams): tight end, offensive guard, center, defensive tackle, cornerback, and safety.

Where can Texas go from here to address those various positional needs?

Here’s a deeper look into three of the most underrated remaining targets to pursue in the 2021 recruiting class of the Texas Longhorns football program.
