1. Brennan Eagles, Wide Receiver

All of the names on this list are part of that first truly nationally prominent signing class under Herman, from the 2018 recruiting cycle. Former four-star recruit and Houston, TX, native Brennan Eagles ranked among the top 75 2018 high school prospects in the nation, and he’s starting to live up to the hype in college.

The rise to prominence that Eagles saw already last season was huge. He was the third receiving option for Ehlinger last season behind the likes of the star senior wide receiver duo that was Devin Duvernay and Collin Johnson. With Duvernay and Johnson now trying to make headway after getting selected in the third and fifth rounds, respectively, in the 2020 NFL Draft, this could be Eagles’ time to shine.

Last season, Eagles registered 32 catches for 522 yards and six touchdowns. That saw him average more than 16.0 yards per catch and emerge as a real threat to rack up a ton of yards after the catch when Ehlinger actually looked his way.

A lot of what Eagles brought to the table as a sophomore showed big hit or miss production. For example, he registered eight catches for 175 yards and three touchdowns. But the next game after that saw Eagles haul in just one catch for 28 yards and no touchdowns in the non-conference win over the Rice Owls.

Even in the win over Oklahoma State in the Big 12 opener, Eagles got 73 yards and one touchdown on just one catch. If Eagles can get more targets this year in the passing game, watch out for him to become one of the more productive wideouts in the Big 12.
