This ball hawking four-star 6-foot-0.5 and 180 pound Kennedale, TX, native is one of the more unique talents the Longhorns have offered at the safety position. Coffey really stood out in pass coverage during his freshman and sophomore seasons at Kennedale, but his turnover production dropped off a bit as a junior.

He combined for 12 interceptions evenly split six a piece during his first two years playing high school football. Then, that number dipped down to two last season. But he also registered a career-best 71 total tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, and he returned one of those two interceptions for a touchdown.

Moreover, Coffey ranks as the nation’s No. 173 2021 high school prospect, No. 7 safety, and No. 29 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). He currently has more than 30 schools on his lengthy offer sheet. Among those schools that offered him are the Sooners, LSU Tigers, Oregon Ducks, Washington Huskies, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Michigan Wolvineres, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Virginia Tech Hokies.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions do currently give the overwhelming lead to the Longhorns to land the commitment of Coffey. The Rivals FutureCast also has 89 percent of their analysts and publishers picking Coffey to commit to Texas over the rest of the field.

Coffey seems to be heavily favorited to land on the Forty Acres right now. That is a good sign of what’s to come in the race to land his commitment for Texas.
