One of the most recent offers from the 2021 Texas football recruiting class went out to three-star Manor safety Devin Lemear.

The action on the recruiting trail likely won’t slow down anytime soon for head coach Tom Herman and the Texas football program. During a dead period for in-person recruiting contact, which is now instituted through July 31, Texas has to get very creative and focused with their strategies on the trail. Recruiting news is heating up while Texas is getting mixed results on the trail of late.

There was good news within the last month and a half for the Texas Longhorns football program on the recruiting trail when they landed pledges from the likes of three-star running back Jonathon Brooks, four-star strong-side defensive end Jordon Thomas, three-star wide receiver Casey Cain, etc. But losing a second commitment from a 2021 tight end prospect in a matter of 120 days hurt the Longhorns on the trail.

On May 30, three-star 6-foot and 170 pound Manor safety Devin Lemear announced on his Twitter timeline that he received an offer from the Longhorns. The Manor, TX, native now has nearly 20 schools on his growing offer sheet.

Other significant offers that Lemear received thus far came from the TCU Horned Frogs, Arkansas Razorbacks, Baylor Bears, Boise State Broncos, Iowa State Cyclones, Houston Cougars, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Mizzou Tigers, SMU Mustangs, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Utah Utes. Most of his interest is coming from schools in Texas and around Big 12 country.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions do show that the Longhorns are currently trending to land the commitment of Lemear. The Rivals FutureCast also has 75 percent of their analysts and publishers picking Lemear to commit to Texas over the rest of the field.

Lemear ranks as the nation’s No. 973 2021 high school prospect, No. 74 safety, and No. 150 prospect out of Texas. If he would commit to the Longhorns prior to anyone like four-star Kennedale safety J.D. Coffey III doing so, then he would be the first at this position in the 2021 class.
