Texas Football: 3 best remaining wide receiver transfer options
A lot of the value that the former Oklahoma State Cowboys rising redshirt sophomore wide receiver CJ Moore brings to the table will be involved with the eligibility he holds out of the gate. Whatever his next landing spot is (unless he ultimately returns to Oklahoma State), Moore will have an interesting situation to appeal.
Moore isn’t the youngest wide receiver in the transfer portal, but he isn’t the oldest either. This is his third year in college that he’s heading into, so there’s still a lot of room for him to grow.
The former highly touted four-star recruit and 6-foot-5 and 180 pound wide receiver signed with Oklahoma State as part of their 2018 class. He ranked as the nation’s No. 147 2018 high school prospect, No. 26 wide receiver, and No. 5 prospect out of Oklahoma (247Sports Composite). He’s a product of Union High School in Tulsa, OK.
Moore held offers from the likes of the Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama, Baylor, Miami Hurricanes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oklahoma Sooners, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, Texas, and the Texas A&M Aggies, coming out of high school. But he went with somewhat of a surprise pick originally with Oklahoma State.
Moreover, Moore could really be that sizable wide receiver option that Texas tries to use to replace the production of the departed 6-foot-6 Collin Johnson for at least a few years. But all the production that Moore brings to the table at the college level is four catches for 81 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
This is a drum that I’ve beat on for a while. Moore would still be a gem find for the Longhorns if they are willing to reach out and try to pursue him.
