Early targets continue to surface for the potent 2023 Texas football recruiting class, including in-state WR/DB Daniel Demery.

Offers are already starting to pour out from head coach Tom Herman and his staff to various potential targets of the 2023 Texas football recruiting class. And the Texas coaching staff is surely getting a lot of their energy in the right place with a good portion of the offers they’ve sent out to prospects on the recruiting trail in the last three months.

Given the weird offseason for the Longhorns and the ever-changing times the world is going through of late, focusing all the way up to the 2023 recruiting class almost seems surreal. But this is a great time to go ahead and start planning out the configuration of future classes. Running back and wide receiver are especially important positions for the Longhorns to get in on early too.

Hence the recent offer sent to 2023 Parish Episcopal School talented athlete Daniel Demery, who is standing out when given the opportunity this offseason. This 5-foot-11 and 185 pound Dallas, TX, native is starting to pickup a ton of momentum on the trail of late. He picked up his Texas offer on June 12, according to a post from Demery’s Twitter timeline.

He’s now closing in on a double-digit number of schools on his offer sheet. The seven other FBS programs that offered him so far includes the Colorado Buffaloes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, North Texas Mean Green, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Kansas Jayhawks, SMU Mustangs, and Vanderbilt Commodores. Texas is the second Big 12 school to offer Demery.

And there’s one FCS program that offered Demery too, Illinois State.

During his freshman season at Parish Episcopal in Dallas, Demery helped the varsity team to a Division I title in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools. Parish Episcopal also rounded up the 2019 season with a record of 12-1.

Demery also made a recent appearance at the FBU camp entering the weekend. This is a spot where he also got spotlighted with an SMU offer. He stood out at the camp, showing off skills at both wide receiver and defensive back. The camp also saw redshirt sophomore Texas quarterback Casey Thompson make an appearance.

Texas has now offered 16 2023 high school prospects, as of the morning of June 13. But more and more offers continue to pour out in recent weeks. Demery is the first offer classified as an athlete out of Texas. And he could be an important target to prioritize in the next year.

Texas has yet to land a single commitment from a 2022 or 2023 prospect. The first 2022 commit could come soon enough, but it’s good to see the coaching staff getting so much early attention to talented 2023 high school prospects like Demery.
