A formerly big time target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class, 4-Star ILB Kendrick Blackshire, is trending to landing in the SEC.

One of the top remaining uncommitted linebacker targets for this cycle, and a target that the 2021 Texas football recruiting class had to slow down in pursuit of, could be narrowing down his final commitment decision. Four-star Duncanville inside linebacker Kendrick Blackshire eliminated the Longhorns from contention to land his pledge a couple months ago.

This 6-foot-2 and 250 pound sizable Duncanville, TX, native dropped his top six finalist schools on social media back on April 22, and the Longhorns were cut from that round. That group of six schools did include the Oklahoma Sooners, Baylor Bears, Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, LSU Tigers, and Illinois Fighting Illini.

It is interesting that the likes of Illinois and Baylor were able to make it through in the latest round of finalist school cuts for Blackshire and Texas was not, but that can happen when the Longhorns aren’t performing at peak efficiency on the gridiron. This fall could be a telling sign of how Herman and the Longhorns are able to shift that image.

However, there are leading indicators now that Blackshire has a tendency to committing to one school right now. The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have 80 percent of the experts picking him to commit to Alabama over the rest of the field.

Even the Rivals FutureCast has 86 percent of their analysts and publishers picking Blackshire to give his pledge to head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.

There’s no set decision date in for Blackshire yet. Although his Twitter bio does read as “boogieman committed to the University of……”, which would lead one to believe that he is getting closer to making his decision public.

Blackshire ranks as the nation’s No. 154 2021 high school prospect, No. 7 inside linebacker, and No. 27 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). The sole 247Sports recruiting ranking for Blackshire slots him as the nation’s No. 205 high school prospect, No. 8 inside linebacker, and No. 31 prospect out of Texas.

He currently has just shy of 30 schools on his lengthy offer sheet. The other significant schools he has an offer from includes the Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Tennessee Volunteers, and USC Trojans.
