2. Texas A&M Aggies

There’s this constant edge that Aggies football fans have to seemingly get the best of the Longhorns, whether it be on the field, or just in terms of bragging rights. The Texas A&M fan base does still try to prove themselves, but really the only relevance that the Longhorns and Aggies have in their rivalry anymore comes on the recruiting trail.

The only way that the Lone Star Showdown is going to happen on the gridiron anytime soon is if they meet up in the College Football Playoff or a bowl game. Texas and Texas A&M were nearly opponents in the Texas Bowl last year. But the Aggies wound up facing Oklahoma State in the Texas Bowl, a game which they emerged triumphant in.

In the all-time series history between the Longhorns and Aggies, the edge goes to Texas by a record of 76-37-5. The largest margin of victory that Texas ever had over Texas A&M came way back in the 1898 season, the second ever meeting between these two teams. That was a win for the Longhorns by the final score of 48-0.

Texas did have a really difficult time taking care of business against Texas A&M during a span of 11 seasons, from 1984-1994. On only one occasion, Texas would emerge on top over the Aggies in that span of 11 years. Since the 1950 season, Texas A&M has beat eight top 18 ranked Texas teams in the Lone Star Showdown. But Texas does hold an edge when both teams are ranked in this rivalry, by a record of 7-3-0.
