8. Bill Snyder

Among the more difficult opponents that the Longhorns had to face for any head coach is the Kansas State Wildcats and the legendary Bill Snyder. While Snyder hit retirement (a day that seems surreal that it finally came) last offseason, his legacy will live on for a long time with the Kansas State program.

The total record that Snyder held as the Kansas State head coach facing the Longhorns was 9-6. But he really did the most damage when facing the Longhorns in the Little Apple. When Kansas State took on the Longhorns at home at Bill Snyder-Family Memorial Stadium in Manhattan, Texas faced a faced a five-game losing streak that lasted until the mid-2010’s.

Texas just couldn’t get the best of Kansas State in the Little Apple for a long time. And there weren’t all that many head coaches that got the best of Mack during his time as the Longhorns head coach. But Snyder was a pretty big time exception. He helped derail Big 12 and/or national title hopes for the Longhorns during the 1998, 2006, and 2012 seasons.

The all-time series record between these two teams falls as a clean tie, with a record of 10-10-0. The longest win streak for Kansas State in this all-time series was five (from 2006-2012). And the longest win streak for the Longhorns was the one they are currently in the midst of (starting back in 2017). Hopefully Herman can continue his good fortune against Kansas State in the coming years.
