The most highly touted defensive back target remaining of the Longhorns 2021 recruiting class that is realistic for them to get a commitment from is four-star LBJ safety Andrew Mukuba. A prospect that hails from right outside of the Longhorns backyard, the 6-foot and 185 pound Mukuba should be able to make an early impact once his college career begins.

Mukuba ranks as the nation’s No. 240 2021 high school prospect, No. 12 safety, and No. 39 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). The sole 247Sports recruiting ranking holds him out as the nation’s No. 208 high school prospect, No. 13 safety, and No. 33 prospect out of Texas.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions do have most of their experts picking Mukuba to commit to the Longhorns over the likes of the Oklahoma Sooners and Clemson Tigers. He also holds offers from 35 schools in total with the highlights coming from the Alabama Crimson Tide, defending National Champion LSU Tigers, Auburn Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Tennessee Volunteers, and USC.

The Rivals FutureCast also has 100 percent of their analysts and publishers picking Mukuba to commit to Texas over the rest of the field. Mukuba could be a really big get for the Longhorns that dramatically boost the depth at the safety position. If Texas can land both him and Lemear, it would be massive for their 2021 class.
