Texas Basketball: KD calls Kendricks Perkins a ‘sell out’
Former Texas basketball superstar forward Kevin Durant recently called out the response that Kendrick Perkins had on Kyrie Irving’s NBA opposition.
The most notable former star out of the Texas basketball program in the NBA at this point in time is the Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant. This particular Texas Ex was found a lot speaking his mind on various topics since the novel coronavirus pandemic put the NBA’s 2019-20 regular season on pause back in mid-March, and with all of the other protests happening around the country and the globe.
Earlier this week, it was KD speaking his mind on a comment that his former teammate with the Oklahoma City Thunder and current ESPN commentator Kendrick Perkins made regarding his current teammate in Brooklyn that set things off. Perkins was trying to call out KD’s teammate with the Nets, star point guard Kyrie Irving, on his stance on the NBA season resuming.
Kyrie is a noted leader to an opposing side for a lot of the parts of the plan for the NBA’s 22-team restart, with games planned to start late next month at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. He went as far as saying that some players should start their own league instead of participating in the NBA’s season restart next month.
Perkins specific response noted that Kyrie was “the distraction” and that he largely disagrees with the point he is trying to make. This type of polarization is going all over national headlines at the moment.

Perkins also specifically mentions that he thinks Kyrie’s plan “makes zero sense” and also that he “totally” disagrees. This was sure to draw some other comments from any that take the side of Kyrie.
And one of those expected to take that side of Kyrie in this regard is his superstar teammate KD. In a weird way, KD called out Kendrick on an Instagram post earlier this week. He mentioned that Perkins is a “sell out” in a comment on Instagram.
This all comes during a weird week where the restart of the NBA season that has a lot of details that are largely still up in the air. KD also took to the other side of the pendulum in the headlines this week, with an announcement that he was teaming up with the deodorant company Degree to give $1 million for social activism support in the community. That news came from a report from Kristian Winfield of New York Daily News.
KD didn’t play in a single game with the Nets this season thanks to a torn achilles injury he suffered with the Golden State Warriors during his 2019 playoffs run. And he’s not likely to play once the season resumes at Disney World.
