There was a lot of volatility at the wide receiver position in the Longhorns 2020 recruiting class. They originally had a pretty solid group of running backs/wide receivers in that class. That was until all of the coaching staff turnover began and the decommitments started pouring in. A group of decommitments that included four-star athlete Mookie Cooper, four-star wide receiver Quentin Johnston, and three-star running back Ty Jordan, did ultimately hurt the 2020 class.

But this is where Herman signing three-star 5-foot-10 and 170 pound Hutto wide receiver Dajon Harrison provided so much value for the Longhorns. There won’t be much more skillful skill position finds by the Texas coaching staff than the speedy and versatile Harrison. He is the type of player that could make an impact on special teams and offense even in the next year or two.

Even 247Sports graded out Harrison pretty low among the wide receivers out of the state of Texas. He ranked as the nation’s No. 539 2020 high school prospect, No. 87 wide receiver, and No. 70 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). The sole 247Sports recruiting ranking slotted Harrison as the No. 132 wide receiver and No. 112 prospect out of Texas.

Moreover, the Rivals recruiting profile for Harrison ranked him as the No. 76 prospect out of Texas. That is likely more accurate to the type of impact that Harrison will bring to the table.

Harrison is an underrated vertical threat, that can also be a true weapon getting the ball at multiple different levels of the field. He could even make an impact getting the ball out of the backfield for the Longhorns.

This was a truly special get outside of the top 500 ranked 2020 high school prospects in the nation for Herman and the Longhorns.
