Who are the three Texas football players that could wind up rising to the occasion and taking the team to new heights come the 2020 season?
At this point of the offseason, the Texas football program is reaching a difficult area of how to prepare for the looming 2020 regular season slate. Texas needs to find a way to get ramped up for the 2020 season opener, which is now less than three months away, but have a big blockade in the way.
Head coach Tom Herman now has a health problem on his hands, as more than a dozen of his players have already tested positive for the novel coronavirus since summer workouts began earlier this month. Texas has one of the more significant known problems in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of the raw amount of players that have tested positive.
The likes of the Clemson Tigers and LSU Tigers also have a big time problem on their hands with how many of their players that have tested positive for COVID-19. The defending National Champion LSU reportedly (Sports Illustrated) had at least 30 players recently test positive for COVID-19. And Clemson can add more than 20 players testing positive for COVID-19 to that mark in the national headlines.
Anyway you spin it, the Longhorns are going to have their fair share of difficulties getting set for the looming 2020 season. Texas is supposed to open up their 2020 season on Sep. 5 at home at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium against the South Florida Bulls, as long as the schedule isn’t altered at that point at all.
Given all of these hurdles Texas has to work through, their best players and most notable leaders will have to rise to the occasion.
