Texas Football: 3 best CB Anthony Cook transfer landing spots
The Texas football program lost a big part of their secondary to the transfer portal on June 23 with the news that junior Anthony Cook is not with the team.
It appears that the name that could soonest hit the NCAA Transfer Portal out of the Texas football program is rising junior defensive back and former highly touted four-star recruit Anthony Cook. The writing was already on the wall that Cook was on his way out of the Forty Acres prior to the news hitting on June 23 that he had already left the program.
Considering that Cook is no longer with the Longhorns as of the afternoon of June 23, it looks like he is headed into the transfer portal once and for all. He did keep to his word after tweeting out earlier this month that he would not play another snap for Texas. But he deleted that tweet so soon thereafter that it was hard to make out what Cook’s ultimate plans were.
Cook was supposed to be entering his junior season with the Longhorns. He played 15 games over the last two seasons on the Forty Acres. In those 15 games played, Cook registered 42 total tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, three pass deflections, and one forced fumble.
Coming out of Lamar High School in Houston, TX, Cook was a pretty highly coveted four-star cornerback recruit during the 2018 cycle. He ranked as the nation’s No. 64 2018 high school prospect, No. 10 cornerback, and No. 7 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). Cook had 35 schools on his offer sheet including the defending National Champion LSU Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Clemson Tigers.
But with Cook’s name now in the transfer portal, where could he land next? Here’s a look into the three possible transfer landing spots for Cook out of the portal.
