Few wide receivers are going to make the immediate impact out of the transfer portal that a former Longhorn like the 6-foot-3 and 215 pound Cayleb Jones did after landing with the Arizona Wildcats. During the 2014 and 2015 seasons, Jones was a top tier target in the Arizona passing game. And he helped the breakout of former Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon in the mid-2010’s.

Jones played two seasons with Arizona, with his best coming during the 2014 campaign. He played in 14 games during the 2014 season, posting career-highs in the process. Jones registered 1,019 receiving yards on 73 catches, for nine touchdowns. He averaged 14.0 yards per catch and was red hot coming out of the gates.

In total for his run at Arizona, Jones registered 129 catches for 1,926 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. He averaged just shy of 15 yards per catch to go along with 71.33 receiving yards per game and just over .50 receiving touchdowns per game. Jones was a consistent standout target in the passing game for Solomon in the mid-2010’s.

Coming out of Austin High School in Austin, TX, Jones was a highly touted four-star recruit that was a big get for the 2012 Longhorns recruiting class. He was part of one of the final two recruiting classes for Brown in his run as the Longhorns head coach. Jones ranked as the nation’s No. 69 2012 high school prospect, No. 7 wide receiver, and No. 9 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).

Jones transferred to Arizona during the 2013 offseason, before he ever raked in a single reception playing for Texas.
