Texas Football: 3 Longhorn transfers who found most success elsewhere
A more modern example of a talented recruit coming out of high school that didn’t really find his way with the Longhorns, but did elsewhere, is the former Mizzou Tigers defensive tackle Jordan Elliott. Following his redshirt junior season at Mizzou, Elliott wound up declaring one year early for the 2020 NFL Draft.
This 6-foot-4 and 305 pound defensive lineman was picked by the Cleveland Browns in the third round (88th overall). Considering he didn’t really start off his college career on the right foot, Elliott did a great job finding his way in Columbia with the Longhorns former Big 12 foe Mizzou. Elliott stood out along the Mizzou defensive line for a couple of seasons.
When Elliott originally transferred from Texas, he stated that he “didn’t really” have any fun on the Forty Acres. He made a good move by transferring to Mizzou, where he registered 44.0 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and three pass deflections. For his total run at Mizzou, Elliott raked in 68.0 total tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble.
Elliott was a local product when he signed with the Longhorns 2016 recruiting class. This former four-star defensive tackle product hails from Westside High School in Houston, TX, was a local recruit that was a big part of the 2016 class. He ranked as the nation’s No. 119 2016 high school prospect, No. 15 defensive tackle, and No. 19 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).
