A crucial offseason for the Texas football program could be decided by how the roster is construction from here on out for head coach Tom Herman.

Facing a roller coaster ride this offseason in terms of roster management, head coach Tom Herman and the Texas football program might need some help to get through it all. Texas already had to turn to the NCAA Transfer Portal once for help at a potential position of need this offseason. They snagged former Michigan Wolverines rising senior grad transfer wide receiver Tarik Black out of the portal.

The portal is a two-way street for the Longhorns each passing offseason. So far this offseason, Texas lost a lot to the transfer portal. The most recent big loss to the portal came from former four-star recruit and rising junior defensive back Anthony Cook. At this point in time, Cook is the most highly touted recruit in the portal.

Texas has also lost the likes of offensive lineman JP Urquidez, linebacker Caleb Johnson, defensive tackle Gerald Wilbon, and wide receiver Jordan Pouncey to the portal, among others. Last offseason, it was quarterbacks Shane Buechele and Cameron Rising, running backs Kyle Porter and Toneil Carter, wide receiver Bru McCoy, and linebacker Cam Townsend that entered the portal.

But the transfer portal was a two-way street for the Longhorns again last offseason with landing former Georgia Tech offensive guard Parker Braun. Two offseasons ago, it was adding former Cal running back Tre Watson and Rice offensive tackle Calvin Anderson that helped the Longhorns turn to the portal into a two-way street.

Can they do it again this offseason, especially after the loss of Cook to the portal (and any other surprises that might be lurking)?

Here’s a look into an updated list of the three most significant transfer portal targets for the Longhorns at this point of the offseason.
