3. Andrew Jones, Shooting Guard

The resurgence down the stretch last season of the inspiring rising fourth-year shooting guard Andrew Jones helped provide a much-needed scoring presence mostly off the bench for Texas. Jones was one of the few capable volume scorers that the Longhorns had in recent memory coming off the bench.

He helped to provide a nice change of pace behind the dynamic guard combination of Courtney Ramey and Matt Coleman. Although Jones still has a long way to give in his development back after beating cancer, he did have an impressive run through the Big 12 slate last season. In total, Jones played in 31 games last season (starting in 11 of them).

In those 31 games played last season, Jones averaged 11.5 points per game, 2.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.2 blocks. He shot 41.0 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 72.2 percent from the free-throw line. That amounted to a 4.5 box plus/minus rating, 52.9 true shooting percentage, .106 win shares per 40 minutes, and a 14.7 player efficiency rating.

Jones was a scoring stud by the per 100 possessions numbers last season. He averaged 26.1 points per 100 possessions, 4.3 assists, and 5.2 rebounds. He was also a fairly well rounded player posting 1.0 offensive win shares and 1.2 defensive win shares. Cap that with a turnover rate around 15.0 percent and a 1.7 steal percentage and you get a pretty efficient 2019-20 campaign for Jones by all considerations, mostly coming off the bench.
