Texas Basketball: Inclusion changes met with overwhelming positivity
People associated with UT-Austin ranging from the Texas basketball all the way to the football program reacted positively to big news today.
As far as the Texas basketball and football programs are concerned, the recent sweeping changes that were announced to happen for the University of Texas-Austin to make the campus more inclusive look to already carry a crucial impact with the athletes, coaches, and administrative staff. The changes that were announced on Monday afternoon to make the campus and athletic programs (among other aspects of the university) more inclusive were met with a very positive reaction from a number of athletes, students, and staff from the school.
Among those players out of the Longhorns men’s basketball team that gave a positive reaction to the news of the sweeping inclusion changes on campus on July 13 were rising sophomore shooting guard Donovan Williams and rising senior guard Andrew Jones. Although they were just two of the number of people associated with the university in some capacity that posted something positive as a reaction to the news on social media to begin the week.
Jones and Williams both quote tweeted the post from the university’s official Twitter page with positive reactions.

The Longhorns will see sweeping changes to the campus with alterrations ranging from the renaming of the football field (now after Earl Campbell and Ricky Williams) all the way to campus buildings getting renamed. Although one of the more important topics in this matter, the school’s fight song “The Eyes of Texas”, will not be changed as the official alma mater amid this announcement.
It’s still good to see the changes that were made, and the positive reactions they were met with from players like Jones and Williams. More on this ongoing storyline is sure to emerge for both the Longhorns hoops and football programs in the near future.
