1. Samuel Cosmi, Offensive Tackle

Likely the most obvious name on the list to possibly sit out of a shortened 2020 season schedule would be the Longhorns standout rising redshirt junior offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi. As one of the most versatile blockers in the Big 12 this year, Cosmi is going to be a highly sought after commodity in the trenches in this 2021 draft class.

Since he earned USA Today Freshman All-American honors back during the 2018 season, Cosmi was a model of consistency in both run and pass blocking for the Longhorns. He received All-Big 12 Second Team honors last season and was an honorable mention in the race for Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Cosmi also has the body that NFL scouts will look for out of a potent offensive tackle prospect. Standing at 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds, Cosmi is ready to make an impact at the next level. Tankathon only ranked him behind the Oregon Ducks star lineman Penei Sewell among the best at this position in the 2021 draft class.

As essentially the most sure thing as a potential first round pick in the 2021 draft coming out of the Longhorns football program, Cosmi shouldn’t risk anything if there’s little reward to playing in the 2020 season. If there is anything still resembling a chance to win a Big 12 Title and get a shot in the College Football Playoff, then that opinion might change.
