The most prioritized targets for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class are going to almost solely focus on the blue chips this summer.

At this point, the 2021 Texas football recruiting class should be about a little more than halfway filled out. Texas is in a position to find itself with another top 10 ranked class in the nation. As of the evening of July 14, the 2021 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 11 in the nation and remains just ahead of the rival Oklahoma Sooners in the top spot in the Big 12 (per 247Sports Team Composite Rankings).

Texas has 14 commits currently in the 2021 class, with the latest coming from four-star John Muir cornerback Jamier Johnson. The highest rated commit in the 2021 class is five-star Denton-Ryan athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders. His teammate and four-star athlete Billy Bowman Jr. is close to getting that elusive fifth star.

But at this point, Sanders is the lone five-star commit in the 2021 Longhorns class.

Despite a decent collection of talent in the Longhorns 2021 class thus far, there’s still an abundance of needs left to address. And there’s not going to be as much uncommitted blue chip talent remaining as there was entering the 2020 offseason.

Texas is going to have to turn elsewhere in some regard to fill out their depth needs in the 2021 class. There is no way that head coach Tom Herman has sent out every single offer that he intends to for this cycle in the middle of July. Other underrated prospects are still going to get Texas offers in this cycle in the coming months ahead of the Early Signing Period.

Here’s a deeper look into three hidden gems that the Longhorns should pursue further for their 2021 recruiting class.
