There’s a smaller and smaller number of O-Line targets remaining after losing the Brockermeyers for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class.

On the early afternoon of July 17, the 2021 Texas football recruiting class took an enormous hit to its efforts on the trail with the loss of the commitments of the highly touted Brockermeyer brothers. About the most anticipated commitment decision of this cycle for a long time now revolved around the Brockermeyer twins.

But on July 17, it was announced that five-star All Saints Episcopal elite offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer and his twin brother James (four-star center) would take their talents to join the Alabama Crimson Tide over the Longhorns. Tommy also held offers from 25 schools in total, while James had offers from 17.

Tommy ranks as the nation’s No. 5 2021 high school prospect, top overall offensive tackle and prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). Meanwhile, the 247Sports Composite ranking for James slots him as the nation’s No. 188 2021 high school prospect, top overall center, and No. 32 prospect out of Texas.

Obviously losing the nation’s top high school center and offensive tackle in the same package deal is a huge hit to the Longhorns 2021 class. Texas had a huge chance to land a very solid 2021 class in the trenches, but they’ve now lost out on the likes of five-star Texas native offensive lineman Donovan Jackson and the Brockermeyer twins. The likes of four-star linemen Savion Byrd and Bryce Foster could be getting away from them in due time too.

That is at least with the way things are trending now for Byrd to the SMU Mustangs and Foster to the Texas A&M Aggies and Oklahoma Sooners.

Nonetheless, here’s a deeper look into the three remaining 2021 offensive line targets for the Longhorns after the loss of the Brockermeyers to the Crimson Tide.
