It seems like the gem find in the trenches at this moment for the Longhorns could be four-star (at least by Top247 rankings) Lakeview Centennial center Ezra Dotson-Oteyade. This rising 6-foot-3 and 285 pound Garland, TX, native is about as good as it’s going to get right now in terms of unheralded prospects that fall on the Longhorns radar.

Dotson-Oteyade ranks as the nation’s No. 429 2021 high school prospect, No. 7 center, and No. 62 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). But the Top247 rankings slot him as the nation’s No. 243 high school prospect, No. 1 center, and No. 41 prospect out of Texas. If you look at it through the lens of the Top247 rankings, Dotson-Oteyade would actually be a bigger get for the center position than James Brockermeyer.

As of the evening of July 17, Dotson-Oteyade holds offers from just over two dozen schools. The highlights of his offer sheet includes the Boise State Broncos, Arizona State Sun Devils, Vanderbilt Commodores, Houston Cougars, Mizzou Tigers, Washington State Cougars, SMU, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and the Navy Midshipmen. The latest offer he received came from the Memphis Tigers out of the AAC back on July 1.

The 247Sports recruiting profile for Dotson-Oteyade does mention that he has the potential of a Power Five starter at the center position, with “NFL Draft upside”. Landing him would be about as good of a replacement that Texas could find at the moment to replace at least the lost commitment of James Brockermeyer.
