Now with the loss of the Brockermeyer twins, the 2021 Texas football recruiting class is sent reeling to find answers in the trenches.

There was little to no good news that was delivered for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class in the trenches in the last couple of weeks. The worst of that news to the offensive line prospects for the Longhorns 2021 class came from the highly coveted Brockermeyer twins. On the afternoon of July 17, the Brockermeyer twins officially announced they would be giving their commitment to head coach Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide over offers from the likes of the Longhorns, LSU Tigers, and Clemson Tigers, among others.

To say that the results on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns of late were mixed is an understatement. Texas did have a few big wins in the last few weeks on the trail, but missing out on the Brockermeyers is a sizable blemish for head coach Tom Herman and offensive line coach/co-offensive coordinator Herb Hand.

Finding our where Texas goes from here in terms of building out this class in the trenches will be hard to decipher. Texas likely still needs to add one or two more offensive linemen in the 2021 class, not to mention any other positional needs that are still remaining.

In the 2021 class, the Longhorns currently hold commitments from 14 prospects. The highest rated of those 14 commits, and the lone five-star, is Denton-Ryan athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders. The most recent commit in this class is four-star John Muir cornerback Jamier Johnson.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 11 in the nation and remains ahead of the Oklahoma Sooners with the top spot in the Big 12. But Alabama did jump well ahead of Texas in the national class rankings after landing the commitments from the Brockermeyers heading into the weekend.

With that in mind, here’s a look back at the three biggest offensive line recruiting misses so far for the Longhorns 2021 class.
