If the Longhorns want to pursue another player that would be a similar case to that of Barron, then they could go after one of the more recent defensive back names to appear in the transfer portal. The former four-star defensive back recruit that signed with the 2020 class of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Jaiden Francois, would be a quality name for the Longhorns to pursue.

On the afternoon of July 17, Francois posted on his Twitter timeline that his “recruitment is now officially open”. This is a quick turnaround, and detrimental news for the Huskers, after he was one of the bigger parts of the 2020 Nebraska recruiting class on the defensive side of the ball. He ranked as the nation’s No. 271 2020 high school prospect, No. 28 safety, and No. 46 prospect out of Florida (247Sports Composite).

Francois is a product of South Dade High School in Homestead, FL. He held offers from 17 schools prior to announcing his commitment to Nebraska. He also enrolled early at Nebraska prior to when spring camp was supposed to begin in Lincoln back in March.

However, the schools outside of Nebraska that highlighted his offer sheet included the Auburn Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Florida State Seminoles, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, and UCF Knights. While Texas did not give him an offer, or even a scout look, he would help add valuable depth over the long haul to their defensive backfield.

At 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, Francois possesses the necessary ball skills, awareness, and physical tools to play either at safety or cornerback if he were to land on the Forty Acres.
