Yet another prospect on the list that already has his name in the transfer portal that possesses the versatility and previous experience to either play at cornerback or safety for the Longhorns would be this Louisiana native. The former Memphis Tigers rising senior defensive back Josh Perry brings a lot of intrigue with his prospective pursuit out of the portal.

This 6-foot-2 and 200 pound Amite, LA, native and Amite High School product got plenty of experience playing actually both at defensive back and linebacker in the last four years with the Memphis program. But he only got to play in one game last season before it was over and his name appeared in the transfer portal.

In his bits and pieces of four years playing at Memphis, Perry registered 104 career total tackles, two tackles for loss, no sacks, one interception, eight pass deflections, and one fumble recovery. He racked up some level of defensive production in 25 games over the course of those four different seasons with the Tigers.

The best seasons for Perry as a defensive back came in 2017 and 2018 when he registered 100 of his 104 career total tackles, his sole interception, and all eight of his pass deflections. He’s got the length and versatility that Herman would usually look for out of a player in the portal. And since Texas is already looking for something to the effect of linebacker help in the portal, and this coaching staff values versatility, it would be worth the Longhorns giving Perry a shot.
