8. Air Force Falcons

We’re going in alphabetical order on this list, so it won’t necessarily go by total matchups or when the Longhorns last faced each opponent. That means that the Air Force Falcons, currently out of the Mountain West Conference, are the first up. During the 1985 season, the Air Force football program was near its peak.

And Air Force got to face Texas in the Bluebonnet Bowl on New Year’s Eve 1985. Texas came in with a record of 8-3 and Air Force with a near spotless record of 11-1. Air Force edged out the Longhorns to get the bowl win, and finish the season with a top 10 ranking, by the final score of 24-16. That was the lone meeting between Texas and Air Force ever.

7. Harvard Crimson

When the Longhorns faced the Harvard Crimson out of the Ivy League in the lone meeting between each program ever, the latter of the two was on a real high. Harvard carried a spotless record of 7-0-0 into their final game of the 1931 season (including after they beat Texas), but their biggest rival Yale got the best of them on Nov. 21, 1931.

Moreover, when Texas faced Harvard during the 1931 season, they were coming off one loss already. Texas didn’t put up a great fight in that game, resulting in a 35-7 loss on the road back on Oct. 24, 1931. The 1931 season saw the Longhorns finish up with a record of 6-4, including a loss to round things out against the rival Texas A&M Aggies.
