Getting some help at wide receiver is going to be a big priority for the rest of this recruiting cycle. Texas has landed one true wide receiver commit in the 2021 class thus far with three-star Warren Easton product and Louisiana native Casey Cain. There could be at least one more wideout in this class that comfortably fits onto next year’s roster.

If the Longhorns aren’t able to hit on any of their bigger four-star or more highly touted three-star wide receiver targets ahead of the Early Signing Period, they’ll have to start digging deep. And this is where a prospect like the Henry High School wide receiver product out of San Diego, CA L, Kai Jessie could come into play.

As far as fast rising high school prospects go that literally came out of nowhere in the national recruiting rankings for most outlets, Jessie is a great place to start scout looks for the Longhorns at this point in time. This underrated 6-foot-5 and 195 pound wideout is a good route runner, has decent hands, and a pretty high ceiling. He’s starting to get some FCS offers, but not much coming from FBS schools.

Some of the schools that offered Jessie so far includes Morgan State, Cal Poly, and South Dakota. The sole FBS offer he holds came from the New Mexico State Aggies. And the Top247 rankings slot him as the No. 174 2021 high school wide receiver prospect and the No. 105 prospect out of California.

While Texas would be digging very deep to offer Jessie, it could be worth it since he’s likely to only continue to rise up the recruiting rankings in the near future.
