Texas Football: 3 most explosive Longhorns weapons in 2020
3. D’shawn Jamison, Cornerback
The lone player on this list on the defensive side of the ball, but can still make an impact all over the place, is the rising junior cornerback and former four-star recruit D’shawn Jamison. At this point, Jamison proved that he’s not only one of the most explosive Longhorns, but that he sits among the most explosive and threatening players in all of the Big 12.
Last season, Jamison was a force to be reckoned with both in the Longhorns secondary and in the return game. He’s a true special teams threat that arguably won the Longhorns one game via his returns and one with his ball hawking skills. He came up with a huge pick on the road to beat the West Virginia Mountaineers last year.
And Jamison came up with a massive punt return for a touchdown during his true freshman campaign that helped Texas break that long road losing streak in Manhattan against the Kansas State Wildcats. He now has one career punt return and one career kick return for a touchdown. That sole kick return for a touchdown came in the neutral site win over the Rice Owls last season.
To go along with his impressive numbers in the return game, Jamison also was big for the Texas secondary last season. He is the sole Texas corner to be an All-Big 12 Preseason selection this year. He registered 35 total tackles last season, 3.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, three pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
