1. Jordan Whittington, Wide Receiver

Although there’s not many proven talents coming back for the Longhorns receiving corps this season outside of rising junior Brennan Eagles, there’s a ton of talent and potency. It will be all about finding the right strengths of each of these young and unproven wideouts for recently hired offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich and Herman this fall.

There will also be a lot of weight on the shoulders of recently promoted wide receivers coach Andre Coleman to get this position group rolling in the right direction. Coleman has yet to get going in the right direction with his position group on the recruiting trail, so he could make up for that this year with elevating the play of the current receiving corps.

However, one particular name to watch in the Texas receiving corps this fall will be the former five-star Cuero High School recruit and redshirt freshman Jordan Whittington. As the former MVP in the Texas High School 5A State Championship Game on both sides of the ball for Cuero, Whittington did show previously that he could make a huge impact all over the place.

During his true freshman campaign, Herman moved Whittington from wide receiver to running back to fill depth needs in that area on offense. But since Texas added depth at running back during this offseason, Whittington returned to his original position. He should be a real threat all over the place for Texas in the Big 12 this fall.
