A recent visit to Austin apparently made a very positive impact with 4-Star WR target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class Ketron Jackson.

It appears that the 2021 Texas football recruiting class made an impact with more than just one target that could join their receiving corps with recent unofficial visits to Austin of late. Texas already landed one big commitment on July 27 from the likes of the underrated 6-foot-5 and 225 pound Cherry Creek tight end Gunnar Helm.

But Texas could continue to build their momentum on the recruiting trail to add depth in the receiving corps if they capitalize on any additional interest coming from the talented four-star Royse City wide receiver Ketron Jackson. Over the weekend, Jackson reportedly (Horns247 paid content) held a visit to the city of Austin to check out what was going on and see it from a football point of view.

This visit for Jackson to Austin sounds like it made a big impact on him, though. He said in that Horns247 report that Texas is his “dream school” and that this visit definitely boosted the Longhorns in his eyes. He apparently got to FaceTime with both head coach Tom Herman and recently promoted wide receivers coach Andre Coleman whilst on his visit to Austin.

Obviously with the NCAA’s mandated in-person recruiting contact ban that is now lasting through the start of the 2020 season, there was no in-person contact between Jackson and the Texas coaching staff over the weekend. But at least getting some contact through FaceTime is a good step, especially given how this visit apparently made a really positive impact in Jackson’s eyes.

If Texas could wind up landing the commitment of Jackson, they would be getting one of the best remaining uncommitted wide receiver targets of theirs into the 2021 class. He ranks as the nation’s No. 147 2021 high school prospect, No. 26 wide receiver, and No. 24 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). The Top247 does rank him as the No. 21 wide receiver prospect for this cycle.

This 6-foot-2 and 185 pound Texas native currently holds nearly two dozen schools on his impressive offer sheet. The highlighting schools on his offer sheet as of the evening of July 27 includes the Arkansas Razorbacks, TCU Horned Frogs, Colorado Buffaloes, Texas A&M Aggies, Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Baylor Bears, LSU Tigers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and SMU Mustangs.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions do have Jackson currently leaning toward committing to Arkansas over TCU and the rest of the field. But TCU isn’t all that far behind the Razorbacks in those expert Crystal Ball Predictions.

It looks as though TCU and Arkansas are still the front runners to land the commitment of Jackson. But that also appears to be fogging up at this point in time. The Rivals FutureCast also has their analysts and publishers projecting a clean split between Arkansas and Alabama to land Jackson.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class still ranks at No. 12 in the nation and remains in the top spot in the Big 12 ahead of the Oklahoma Sooners. Even after landing the commitment from Helm, Texas is still looking to get back into the top 10 in the national class rankings.
