The next two

On this portion of the depth chart, the Longhorns will need to start getting some reps spread around. This will also be important to get notable reps across all four of the top running backs on the depth chart during fall camp to stay well prepared for the start of the 2020 season.

4. Daniel Young, Senior

In terms of total years with the team thus far, the rising senior running back and former four-star recruit Daniel Young is the most experienced Longhorn at the position. There was a point when it looked like Young and former Texas running back Toneil Carter were going to be the future of this backfield. But that all fell apart during the 2018 campaign.

Still, Young brings valuable experience to this backfield. He’s registered 748 career total yards from scrimmage, and six touchdowns, while averaging 4.2 yards per carry and 4.8 yards per touch. His most productive year still traces back to his true freshman campaign, but there should be some work for him in line this fall.

3. Bijan Robinson, Freshman

The top three on this running back depth chart is going to be where things start getting really interesting. Texas really does have a potent three-headed monster in terms of talented running backs in the mix for this fall.

And that starts here with the former five-star recruit and Salpointe Catholic product (out of Tucson, AZ) Bijan Robinson. The top rated running back prospect in the nation for the 2020 recruiting cycle should be able to make an immediate impact for the Longhorns. He’s a versatile 6-foot and 200 pound back that helps out in the receiving, ground, and blocking game.
