1. Oklahoma Sooners

All eyes around the Big 12 this fall should be one what looks to be the most pivotal game remaining for any of the 10 teams in this conference. The Red River Rivalry game is apparently still set to go at the usual site, at the original Cotton Bowl at the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas. Even though there won’t be a Texas State Fair held in Dallas this year, Red River still appears to have the green light.

And don’t expect the Oklahoma Sooners to come into this game lightly. They’ve had a long time now to prepare for this game, and they saw a lot of the projected starters the Longhorns will have this fall on last year’s team. Texas and Oklahoma are the two most talented teams on both sides of the ball in the Big 12 this year.

But it’s not going to be easy for Texas to get an early edge over Oklahoma in the Big 12 standings like they were able to two seasons ago. Redshirt freshman quarterback and former five-star recruit Spencer Rattler is one of the true dark horse Heisman contenders this year, and he’ll be battling with rising senior Texas signal caller Sam Ehlinger for the rights to be the tops at the position in the Big 12.

Rattler will be attempting to takeover for the former Oklahoma Heisman winners/finalist quarterbacks Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield, and Kyler Murray, which won’t be an easy task. And he will have to go up against a quarterback coming off a junior season with more than 4,000 total yards, 39 total touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, in Ehlinger.
