3 high-profile transfers Texas football could still go after
The Texas football program does still have a few notable options remaining in the NCAA Transfer Portal they could go after this offseason.
The NCAA Transfer Portal tended to be a revolving door for head coach Tom Herman and the Texas football program over the course of the last three offseasons since his time on the Forty Acres began. Texas did well to add depth to the receiving corps earlier in this offseason by landing the former Michigan Wolverines grad transfer senior Tarik Black out of the portal.
But up to this point, Black was the lone pull out of the transfer portal for the Longhorns. Despite seemingly targeting a number of other high-profile names that appeared in the transfer portal since then this offseason, the Longhorns weren’t able to get anyone else into the mix.
The latest apparent miss for Herman and the Longhorns out of the transfer portal was the former Towson Tigers FCS grad transfer running back Shane Simpson, who picked the Virginia Cavaliers over Texas. He looked to be down to Texas and Virginia before he made his transfer decision earlier this week.
Texas could still land at least one more player out of the transfer portal before the start of the 2020 season arrives. But it’s not long at all before Texas starts actual fall camp to ramp up for the start of the season. They would have to get another transfer integrated into the team soon if they were to hit the portal one more time this offseason.
With all of that in mind, here’s a look into three remaining high-profile transfer portal options that the Longhorns could try and get to the Forty Acres.
