Heading into fall/training camp, what are some of the biggest questions facing the Texas football program amid a tough offseason?

Entering the 2020 offseason, no one knew what was really going to be ahead for not just the Texas football program, but pretty much everyone everywhere around the globe. Texas rounded up the 2019 season on a high-note, by avoiding complete disaster in the win column and beating the No. 11 ranked Utah Utes in the Alamo Bowl by the final score of 38-10.

That dominant win for the Longhorns over Utah in the Alamo Bowl looked to give this team momentum heading into the 2020 offseason, along with some positive changes to the coaching staff. At least it seems that the changes to the coaching staff should have a lasting positive impact. But we’ll see how that plays out in the end.

Coaching staff changes brought mixed results for the last two coaching regimes, when the overhauls were done the first time around. Former Texas head coach Mack Brown definitely got it right the first time he made a significant overhaul to his coaching staff. But that same move wasn’t able to keep fellow former Texas head coach Charlie Strong on the Forty Acres beyond the 2016 season.

Head coach Tom Herman has to be ready to get his team going in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the college football season still seems to be hanging on the brink. Texas did get some good news on Aug. 6, as the preseason Coaches Poll ranked them at No. 14 for the 2020 season. Nonetheless, Texas needs to keep their focus on ramping up for the 2020 season while somehow managing to keep everyone same at the same time.

Here’s a look into the three burning questions for the Longhorns heading into training camp this year.
