The 2021 and 2022 Texas football recruiting classes would be a huge boost to this entire program is the pipeline of talent at RB stays alive.

It looks like Texas football recruiting is catching fire on the trail at one particular position group within the last two cycles. Texas did well with the 2020 recruiting class to sign the nation’s top ranked running back prospect, five-star Salpointe Catholic product Bijan Robinson. Now, Texas is trying to do somewhat of the same in their 2021 class by chasing down a number of the top ranked running back prospects in the nation.

And the way that the Longhorns are starting to catch some traction with so many of the top running back prospects in the nation is one coaching combination. Running backs coach Stan Drayton and offensive assistant Brandon Harris are really starting to gain momentum on the recruiting trail together of late.

Drayton and Harris were the tag team that helped to get Robinson to the Forty Acres over the likes of the Ohio State Buckeyes and USC Trojans. Where can they go from here to try and keep the pipeline of talent at running back pouring into Austin?

A bevy of talent at the position still remains uncommitted for the 2021 cycle, and the Longhorns are now just getting started in building out their 2022 class. Texas just landed their first 2022 commit, with four-star Lancaster wide receiver Phaizon Wilson.

Harris is one of the hotter names on the trail in the Texas coaching staff at the moment. The former LSU Tigers and North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback is starting to make a name for himself in the coaching ranks.

Here’s a look into the three top running back prospects for Harris and Drayton to pursue with the Longhorns for the 2021 and 2022 classes.
