Texas Football: Bijan Robinson flashing insane speed in fall camp
Texas football looks to have a potential breakthrough freshman candidate in the Big 12 at running back this fall with former 5-Star recruit Bijan Robinson.
Definitely the most exciting addition this offseason to the Texas football program out of the 2020 signing class was the top ranked high school running back prospect in the nation from this past cycle, and Salpointe Catholic product Bijan Robinson. The former five-star running back recruit and Arizona native was the lone prospect in the Texas 2020 recruiting class that held that ranking. And he should get a shot this fall to make an immediate impact for Texas out of the backfield.
Texas is already getting to see in fall camp the value that Robinson could bring to the table right away. In a video posted on the official Texas Football Twitter page on Aug. 17, Robinson got to show off his insane wheels on a pass that he caught and ran for a touchdown.
But that highlight is not much different than what Longhorn football fans got to see out of Robinson from his high school film and highlights.
Head coach Tom Herman apparently had some good things about Robinson recently in fall camp, among a few other talented signees from the Longhorns 2020 recruiting class. He seems to be one of a number of incoming talented freshman from the 2020 class that are vying for a shot to make an early impact. The other names that Herman apparently mentioned in this regard were the now injured former four-star wide receiver recruit Troy Omeire, linebacker Jaylan Ford, defensive linemen Alfred Collins and Vernon Broughton, cornerback Jahdae Barron, and former three-star athlete recruit Jaden Hullaby.
Coming out of Salpointe Catholic High School in Tucson, AZ, Robinson ranked as the nation’s No. 15 2020 high school prospect, No. 1 running back, and No. 2 prospect out of Arizona (247Sports Composite). He also ranks among the top 300 prospects of all-time in the 247Sports Composite.
Texas is supposed to open up the 2020 season on Sep. 12 at home against the UTEP Miners out of Conference-USA. Then, the Big 12 schedule is set to begin on the road in Lubbock against the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Sep. 26.
